An Account of Elegant Behavior and Austerity of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)

Ubqari Magazine - September 2014

Hazrat Anas (RA) says that you (PBUH) performed hajj on on old podium(?). It was covered with a cloth which was not even of 4 dirhams. And he was saying, O Allah! Free this hajj from exhibition and fame.  (Ibn-e-Maajah, 207, Shamaail, 22).

It is quoted by Hazrat Qadaamah bin Abdullah bin Aamir (RA) that I saw Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) that he was performing rammi on the occasion of hajj while sitting on the back of a she-camel in a way that neither people were being beaten nor was there any noise for people to get away. (Ikhlaaq-un-nabi. p.14)

Benefit: It can be observed commonly that when a dignitary moves in a crowded place, path is cleared before him. People are removed from in front of him. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) did not like this at all. It is quoted by Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (RA) that a person had a conversation with Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and his vein started quivering. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said, be calm, I am not a king. I am the son of that woman of Quraish who used to eat dry meat. (Ibn-e-Maajah, p, 238, Sil, p. 34)

Three Austere Qualities

Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) quotes that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) had three such qualities that arrogant people do not have. 1) Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) would ride on a donkey. 2) Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) used to accept invitations of all free men and slaves. 3) If you found any dates lying you would pick them up, clean them and eat them. (Baihaqqi fildalaail, vol,6, p. 9)

Hazrat Ayesha (RA) quotes that there was nobody more well mannered as compared to Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) in the whole world. When any of your companions and family members would call Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), he (PBUH) would say Labbaik in return. That is why Allah almighty revealed the following verse about you (PBUH):  (Ikhlaaq-ul-Nabi)
